Why should I watch… The Box

Ahead of this weekend’s festival, we caught up with a handful of filmmakers due to have their latest work shown on the big screen to ask them why the heck we should watch their films.

You have probably heard of the phrase “Think outside of the box”? Well this is a film about such a box and the flat-headed creatures that live inside of it. Life in the Box is boring and miserable. Until one day when a new baby boy starts to grown in the middle of the Box. This baby is very different from other flat-headed inhabitants of the Box. He’s happy, lively and curious. As the baby grows bigger and bigger, the flat-headed neighbours are becoming more and more annoyed with him.

The Box director Dusan Kastelic answers our quick fire questions…

Describe The Box in as few words as possible.

Run from the Box.

Why should we watch The Box?

Because we are living inside our own small boxes for too long.

Complete the sentence – Watch The Box if you enjoyed…

What one film would you take with you if you were stranded on a desert island?

City Lights by Charlie Chaplin.

Well if you weren’t intrigued before, you’re probably also now confused. But trust us, this is one animated short you don’t want to miss – it’s time to think outside the box.

The Box will be showing as part of the OUTLIERS category on Sunday 3 June at 2:15-3:15pm, buy your tickets by clicking here. You can find out more about The Box by visiting their official website and Facebook pages.
